Question
Can the alcohol cuvette test LCK300 also be used to determine methanol?
Summary
Methanol determination using LCK300
Answer
General information:
The alcohol oxidase reacts on a substrate-specific basis to the alcohols methanol, ethanol, 1-propanol and 1-butanol.

Field of application:
wastewater, surface water, drinking water
Measuring range: 0.25 - 2.00 mg/L methanol

Accessories:
 LCK300
 Variable pipette 0.2 - 1.0 mL BBP078
 Pipette tips BBP079

Interfering factors:
Oxidizing agents and formaldehyde in higher concentrations result in high readings. Reducing agents in higher concentrations result in low readings.

Work process:
Screw one DosiCap onto the LCK300 cuvette.
Agitate the cuvette, turning it upside down multiple times.

Pipette the following into the same cuvette
Sample                             0.6 mL

Close the cuvette and agitate.
Thoroughly clean the outside of the cuvette and analyse after exactly 45 minutes

Analysis:
1. Select the "Extinction" function and a measurement wavelength of 490 nm
2. Insert zero-solution cuvette and press the zero key. Display >>0>>
3. Insert the analysis cuvette and press the measurement key.

Calculation:
Extinction displayed x 14.14 - 0.36 = result in mg/L methanol
