Answer
There are 3 things that need to be verified:

-The width or diameter of the cell-it should be able to fit in one of the cell adapters for this instrument.  Examples are 10 mm square, 10 mm x 50 mm, 10 mm x 100 mm or 1 inch square.  
-The height of the opening of the cell that allows the beam of light to pass through. The distance from the bottom of the cell to the center of the light beam is called the ‘z dimension’ and in the DR3900 this measurement is 8.5 mm.  The beam of light must be able to pass through the cell at a height of 10 mm or less.  
-The height of the cell is tall enough to make it easy to insert and remove.  45 mm height is sufficient for this.
