Question
When using the HQd Virtual Serial Port, the meter is not recognized. Why not?
Summary
HQd Virtual Serial Port meter is not recognized
Answer
The computer/meter may not be set up correctly. The drivers of '.JNF' file for the HQd meter's virtual driver mode are included on the CD that was sent with the meter. The host computer must support a USB device of the USB Communication Device Class (CDC) of subtype Abstract Control Model (ACM)(see USB CDC v1.1 specifications). For Windows XP and newer, this entails using the supplied '.INF' file to configure the Microsoft-supplied USBSER.SYS service. Installing this configuration file requires admin privledges on the PC. To install this driver, direct the CD inserted into the computer when the Add New Hardware Wizard starts. If the wizard does not start automatically, you will need to go into the device manager on the computer to manually install this driver.
