Question
What are the benefits of using an LDO (Luminescent Dissolved Oxygen) over a Polarographic Dissolved Oxygen (PDO) probe?
Summary
LDO versus Polarographic Dissolved Oxygen probes.
Answer
  • LDO  probes have a 3 year warranty compared to the 1 year warranty the PDO probes have.
  • LDO  probes can be stored dry, unlike the PDO probes  which need to be stored in a storage solution.
  • LDO  probes do not have electrolyte filling solutions or membranes that need to be replaced regularly. They only have a sensor cap that needs to be replaced just once per year.
  • LDO probes do not need to be polarized for several hours before use. They can be used right away.
  • LDO  probes are available in rugged style which has a 5 meter (or longer) cable that much sturdier than the PDO probes and can be used in full submersion applications.
  • LDO  probes have a built in barometer to measure pressure compared to needing to estimate and enter the pressure manually on meters that use the PDO probes.
