Question
Why is a method using the Pour-Thru kit reading half what it should be?
Summary
Pour thru kit reading half
Answer
If a pour-Thru cell kit included a multi-path length cell, it has two orientations when inserted in the instrument for reading. Verify with your method if it should be using the 1 cm or 1 inch path length. If the method uses a 1 inch path length and the cell is oriented in the instrument through the 1 cm path length, the results will be approximately 2.54 times lower.
If the method uses the 1 cm path length, and the 1 inch path length is oriented in the instrument, it will read approximately 2.54 times higher.
