To update the DR900 (part number/order code 9385100) software, download the software update from the Hach website and save the DR900.bin and DR900_Factory.spm files to your computer's desktop.

Note: It may be beneficial to save user programs to a computer prior to performing a software or program update in the event that the user programs are accidentally erased during the update. To export user programs, please see How can user programs be exported from the DR900?

Update the firmware:
1. Set the instrument to on and connect the USB cable to the instrument and to the computer.  The USB Main Menu prompts on the DR900.
2. Select Update DR900 on DR900 screen. The instrument shows as a USB drive on the computer. Open the DR900 folder.
3. Copy the file DR900.bin to the open folder.
4. Push Ok on the DR900.
5. When the update is done, push Ok on the DR900.
6. Select Disconnect USB and disconnect the USB cable.
7. Push Ok on the DR900.
8. Restart the instrument by turning the power off and then back on.
 
Update the programs:
1.  Turn the DR900 on and connect the USB cable to the instrument and to the computer.  The USB Main Menu prompts on the DR900.
2. Select Manage Programs and select an option:
     • Import User Programs- replaces all user programs with the user programs from another DR 900 via a computer.
     • Import Factory Programs- imports new factory programs from the Hach website.
3. The instrument shows as a USB drive on the computer. Open the DR900 folder.
4. Copy the file DR900_Factory.spm for factory programs or the saved file DR900_User.spm from the computer to the open folder.
5. Push Ok on the DR900.
6. When the update is done, push Ok on the DR900.
7. Select Disconnect USB and disconnect the USB cable.
8. Push Ok on the DR900.
9. Restart the instrument by turning the power off and then back on.
