I have strong ammonia concentrations in my sample. Which process pH probe will handle this condition?
pHD sensor and strong ammonia in sample
Hach’s pHD differential electrode is nearly ideal for samples containing strong ammonia. Normal conventional reference electrodes are destroyed in strong ammonia because the silver chloride wire inside the reference will be dissolved by the ammonia. This will cause the potential to drift and destroy the electrode, leading to bad pH readings. This damage is irreversible. Hach’s pHD differential electrode is protected against this type of damage because the silver chloride wire is encased by a glass electrode that protects it from the ammonia. With the pHD, the ammonia never gets to the wire, and the probe works fine.
