Question
Standard Methods indicates you have to use Aluminum Chloride (AlCl3) to separate soluble from insoluble methods, is this required for Hach Method 8131?
Summary
Separating soluble from insoluble sulfide.
Answer
Hach Method 8131 recommends using a centrifuge (1000 RPM for 2 minutes) to separate soluble and insoluble sulfide while Standard Methods recommends using AlCl3 and shaking by hand. Because a centrifuge is used in our method, no AlCl3 is required.
