Question
If the fluid in a thermometer has separated is there a way to reunite the fluid?
Summary
Reuniting the fluid in a thermometer.
Answer
There are a couple methods to reunite fluid in a thermometer: the heating method can be used with mercury or organic filled thermometers, the cooling method should only be used with mercury thermometer unless it has a contraction chamber, and there is also a method for low temperature bottle thermometers. See the attached document for further information.  If you are experiencing fluidic separation in your thermometer, consult the manufacturer's website for further information specific to your thermometer.
