What are indicator organisms?
Indicator organisms represent difficult-to-detect microbial life
Most microbiological life cannot be easily detected or cultured. Organisms are classified as being “indicators” when their presence signals that a separate, non-detectable organism is also present. In this way, tests do not need to cover all possible organisms.
