Question
Is it necessary to have the latest software version when using the Pour-thru cell on a DR 3900 or DR 6000?
Summary
Software update to correct for Pour-Thru cell methods
Answer
The software update for the DR 3900 and DR 6000 that occurred in October 2013 includes a correction to the calibration curve for the programs which use the new 1” pour-thru cell (PN LZV876).

Instruments manufactured before that time had older software with a calibration curve which was approximately 8% too high due to a slight change of the path length from the old style 1” pour-thru cell to the new 1” pour-thru cell used with the DR 3900 and DR 6000.

This only affects DR 6000 software before version 1.05 and DR 3900 software before version 1.07.

This only affects program numbers 227 / 261 / 488 / 489 / 645 / 82 / 86 which are Rapid Liquid and Ultra Low Range programs for Hardness, Silica, Chlorine, Ferrozine Iron, and Reactive Phosphorus (not in that order).
