Question
Is the Pocket Pro or Pro+ tester for pH EPA compliant for wastewater NPDES reporting?
Summary
Pocket Pro or Pro+ pH EPA NPDES compliance regulatory
Answer
No electrode or meter itself is approved by the USEPA. Technically, this meter might be able to be used to follow the USEPA approved method. USEPA-approved pH methods specify use of a pH meter consisting of a potentiometer, a sensing electrode, a reference electrode, and a temperature compensating device. The method does not specify type of reference sensor, electrolyte type, liquid junction, or body material. All Hach pH electrodes meet the requirements specified for as the meter in this method. The Pocket Pro pH Testers are typically not used in NPDES reporting applications, but these instruments can be used to follow USEPA-approved methods. They are not typically used because the meter does not have the ability to display its calibration history, slope and performance data.If you plan on using these for regulatory purposes, please check with your regulator, as this likely will not suffice.
