When a 5500/961x analyzer receives an error code 38, or Fluid Leak, the cause could be a fluid leak has been detected in the upper cabinet, lower cabinet, or it could signal an electronic error.
  1. Check for fluid leaks close to the leak detector in the upper and lower cabinet.
  2. Be sure to thoroughly dry the areas around the leak detectors, including the screws in the center of the bottom of the top half of the analyzer.
  3. If the analyzer is installed in high humidity conditions that cause condensation in the lower case, this warning can be disabled from the menu.
  4. If there is no leak in the cabinet and it is thought to be an electronic issue, try changing the leak detector circuit board that is located in the back left corner of the bottom cabinet.  This is more easily seen when the bottom tray is removed.
Please note that this is for the silica and phosphate analyzer.  The ammonia monochloramine (AMC) analyzer has a different leak detection configuration.
